Ford F-150 vs GMC Sierra in Coeur d'Alene

How Does the Ford F-150 Compare to the GMC Sierra?

When you're on the hunt for a new pickup truck, your final decision can be hard to reach. Drivers in and around Coeur d'Alene know that the Ford F-150 is a capable, powerful, and reliable pickup truck. But there are also many other new trucks in Coeur d'Alene to consider, like the GMC Sierra.

At Mike White Ford of Coeur d'Alene, we believe that the new 2021 Ford F-150 beats out the competition, including the GMC Sierra. Thanks to its power under the hood and capability on the road, we think that the Ford F-150 should be the new pickup truck sitting in your Post Falls driveway.

Comparing Engine Options

With a new 2021 Ford F-150 near Hayden, you can choose from a lineup of six available engines. The engine that we're most excited about is the available new 3.5-liter PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6 engine, which can propel you forward on your Hayden adventures with a heart-pounding 460 horsepower and 570 pound-feet of torque. We also love the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, which can deliver you 400 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. There's also the 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8 engine, which is able to produce 400 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque.

With the GMC Sierra, on the other hand, you can only choose between five different engines, one less than the lineup available with the Ford F-150. However, there are some fairly powerful engines in the GMC Sierra's lineup, but none come quite as close to the power presented by the Ford F-150's engines. The most powerful GMC Sierra engine is a 6.2-liter V8 one, which can output 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. While this is impressive, it still pales in comparison to the Ford F-150's most powerful engine.

Comparing Capability

Spoiler alert: the new 2021 Ford F-150 boasts best-in-class towing and payload capacities, so this category isn't much of a contest.

Still need convincing? Hop into a new Ford F-150 near Rathdrum and prepare to tow to your heart's content. Take control of a Ford F-150 with the available 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine equipped to experience a best-in-class towing capacity of 14,000 pounds. If you use the 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8 instead, you can have access to the best-in-class payload rating of 3,325 pounds. No matter which engine you use, you will be able to tow and haul an impressive amount of cargo.

The GMC Sierra, unfortunately, doesn't quite reach these impressive numbers. With the 6.2-liter V8 engine equipped in a 2021 GMC Sierra, your maximum towing capacity will be 11,800 pounds, over 3,000 pounds fewer than the Ford F-150. GMC Sierra drivers who have the 4.3-liter V6 engine will have access to the maximum available payload rating of 2,200 pounds. While these are some impressive numbers, Liberty Lake drivers who want to get the most out of their towing and hauling ventures will have a better time driving the Ford F-150 rather than the GMC Sierra.
